How it works
Recycling has never been simpler! Just follow these three simple steps to make an even bigger impact on our planet.
Step 1: Sort your packaging
Give your HeroGo boxes, gel packs and insulated liners a quick clean. Please make sure the gel packs are free from tears or leaks.
Step 2: Prepare for pickup
The night before your next HeroGo delivery, simply leave this packaging where your grocery box is usually dropped off. Top tip: Send us details about where you’ve left your packaging by adding a note to the Delivery Instructions section in My Account.
Step 3: We pick up your packaging
When we drop off your next HeroGo box, we’ll collect the old packaging to reuse or recycle.
What will HeroGo recycle?
This is the HeroGo packaging that our drivers will pick up for recycling. Any other packaging will need to be recycled separately.
Boxes
Material: cardboard
If the box is in good condition, we'll reuse it. If not, we'll break it down and recycle it.
Gel packs
Material: LDPE plastic #4 with water-based freezer gel
If there are no tears in your gel packs, we'll work with local partners to sanitise and reuse them.
Egg carton liners
Material: LDPE plastic #4 with post-industrial recycled material
We'll recycle these liners, but they can also be recycled as polyethylene film at flexible film recycling drop-off locations.
Silver insulated liners
Material: LDPE plastic #4 with 30%+ post-industrial recycled material
We'll recycle these liners, but they can also be reused as padded mailers or flexible coolers.
How to recycle everything else
For any other packaging in your HeroGo delivery, please discard them safely, recycling them where you can.
Gel packs with leaks
Discard the gel, then recycle at home. Please note that you can only pour the gel down the sink if the pack has a ‘Drain Safe’ label.

Glass jars & bottles
Please give them a quick clean before recycling at home.
Aluminum cans
Please give them a quick clean before recycling at home.
HDPE plastics
These plastics are highly recyclable via curbside programs, but please check with your recycling hauler for specific instructions.
